Anchorage Barra de Sao Miguel (Barra de São Miguel, Alagoas)

Things to do in Alagoas

Following the sea route to north along Bahia, we arrive to the state of Alagoas: one of the greatest small states in Brazil and one of the circuits required on the Brazilian coast. To enjoy the stunning views of the rainforest, from the coast, you need to steer your boat to the north, as they have virtually disappeared from the coast. However, you can enjoy large mangroves and coconut plantations during the trip. The climate is tropical on the coast, so you should be aware of the possibility of storms in the winter.

If you wish to stop, on the north, stellar hotel resorts coast have been built, such as Maragogi and Japaratinga.

Also you can navigate the river São Francisco, towards the interior, to discover the wonders of the area, using one the several waterways, as the one between Juazeiro-Petrolina and Pirapora, of 1,300 miles.

The beaches of fine sand and crystal clear waters follow one another for 230 miles and some remained virgin. It is believed that in Pontal da Barra you might see some of the most beautiful sunsets that the world has to offer. Maceio, capital of Alagoas, has its biggest tourist attractions located at the sea and in the lagoons: great hotels, outdoor seating along the coast and many restaurants where you can enjoy the typical cuisine based on fish and seafood. Thanks to its climate, the sea temperature is lukewarm, especially in the natural pools created by coral reefs, which are ideal for divers.
